Platform Calgary announced Thursday that longtime President and CEO Terry Rock will leave the organization later this month, with Chief Operating Officer Jen Lussier stepping in as interim-CEO.
Rock, who has led Platform since 2018, will depart effective October 14 to take on a new role elsewhere in Alberta’s tech ecosystem. During his tenure, he helped transform Platform Calgary into a central force in the city’s innovation community, highlighted by the 2022 opening of the Platform Innovation Centre, which has since hosted more than 200,000 visitors. Under Rock’s leadership, Platform now supports over 800 member companies that reportedly have generated $235 million in revenue and created 6,750 jobs in 2024.
“On behalf of the Board, I want to sincerely thank Terry Rock for his exceptional leadership and contributions to Platform Calgary and the growth of Calgary's innovation ecosystem,” said Dean Prodan, Platform Calgary’s board chair. “Terry has left a strong legacy, and we wish him the very best in his next chapter.”
To ensure continuity, the board has appointed Lussier as interim-CEO starting October 15. She joined Platform in 2019 and has since held roles as startup advisor, director, vice president of growth, and most recently COO. A longtime presence in Calgary’s business and startup community, Lussier also co-founded a construction tech company and has served on boards including Product Calgary, the Calgary Innovation Coalition, and Bethany Seniors.
“The Platform Calgary Board has absolute confidence in Jen Lussier's ability to step seamlessly into the interim-CEO role,” Prodan said.
The board will begin a search process for a permanent CEO immediately.
