$1.3B, 157 funding rounds: Explore Start Alberta's 2022 investment recap
Initially launched by the A100, Alberta Enterprise Corporation (AEC) and the Venture Capital Association of Alberta (VCAA) Start Alberta provides real-time data for founders, investors, corporates and government stakeholders, cataloguing the collective regional tech ecosystem.
The local organization recently released what it's calling the 2022 #ABtech Investment Recap. The results were massive, but for anyone who's been watching Albert's growing tech sector, they were not surprising. According to Start Alberta:
"2022 was an incredible year for #ABtech! According to the Start Alberta database, Alberta startups and scaleups raised $1.3B total with 157 funding rounds in 2022. $1.2B was raised in private equity and venture capital with 121 rounds. $78.1M was secured through 36 grant programs with Alberta companies."
