Tech Thursdays launch in Calgary to connect talent, ideas and insights

Upcoming events to focus on AI, product management, and raising capital.

After a year of operating in Winnipeg, Tech Thursday, a weekly events initiative, announced that it's bringing its regular events to the Calgary tech ecosystem.

The Thursday night activities are targeted towards mid- to senior-level talent in the city, and will focus on a range of topics from product management, fundraising, AI and fintech.

Tech Thursday’s partners include the VCAA, YYC Data Society, Untapped Energy, ProductYYC, UXCalgary, Rainforest Alberta, Careers in Innovation and Technology, Pixels and Pints, and The Pioneer to put on the events. Calgary Tech Journal is the media partner.

The events will take place at the Pioneer on 8th Ave, with doors opening at 4:30pm and the panels starting at 5pm.

The upcoming events include:

June 15: AI in B2B: Current Realities and Future Possibilities. Featuring Drew Gillson, Global AI Portfolio Lead at Google, Chloe Smith, CEO and Co-Founder of Mercator.AI, Ryan Kazmerik Director of Data Science at StellarAlgo, and Heather Chapple, Managing Director of AltaML. Co-hosted by YYC Data Society and Untapped Energy.

June 22: Product Management in FinTech. Featuring Maryheth Cabrera, CPO at Wovio, Neta Pyasi, VP of Operations at Benevity, Jeff McPherson, Executive Director of Product Management at Morgan Stanley, Maxine Smith, Manager, Product Management at Symend, and Spencer Yarnell, Product Lead at Neo Financial. Co-hosted by Product Calgary.

June 29: Raising Capital in the Prairies. Featuring Casey Van Maanen, Senior Associate at LOI Ventures, Andrew Chau, CEO of Neo Financial, Adam LeDain, VP of Corporate Development at Summit Nanotech, Cheri Corbett, Senior Partner at BDC, and Omi Velasco, Executive Director of VCAA.
