Government of Alberta gets its data wish
One month after the Alberta government put out the call for U.S. data centre firms to bring their operations to the province, a Canadian company has stepped up.
EStruxture, a Montreal-based AI and hyperscale-ready data centre platform provider, announced a $750 million commitment to build Alberta’s largest data centre, set to go live in fall 2026. The facility, CAL-3, is designed to deliver 90MW of power and set a new standard for high-density computing in the region.
“CAL-3 is a significant, strategic investment, not only for eStruxture but for Alberta’s rapidly evolving digital and AI landscape,” said Todd Coleman, founder, president, and CEO of eStruxture. “This expansion reinforces our commitment to driving the province’s digital economy forward, offering scalable and sustainable infrastructure that meets the growing demands of AI and cloud service providers. Calgary is pivotal to Canada’s tech future, and we’re proud to support its growth with this cutting-edge facility.”
The complex will be located just north of Calgary, in Rocky View County.
Separately, U.S. company Modine — a provider of thermal management tech — this week announced the opening of a facility in Calgary to manufacture its precision cooling equipment to support the needs of data centre customers, particularly in the hyperscale market.
