Last week, PrairiesCan announced over $15 million in funding for 16 Alberta projects that are providing innovators access to specialized equipment and knowledge to test, refine, and commercialize advanced products and technologies.

“This is all about ensuring Alberta businesses have what they need to innovate from start to finish, in order to compete within Canada and around the world,” said Dan Vandal, minister for PrairiesCan. “Our government’s support for these projects is building on Alberta’s solid track record of commercializing innovative products, services, and technologies in key sectors of our economy while supporting quality jobs in communities across the province. This announcement builds on the work already done through our Framework to Build a Green Prairie Economy to create a more resilient and diversified economy for Albertans.”

Of the 16 projects receiving funding, five are based in Calgary:

The federal government says the announcement will directly support over 1,100 jobs.
