Calgary-based OraQ is having a busy year. The dental AI company announced today it's partnering with Medit, a global leader in 3D intraoral scanning, to embed its clinical intelligence software directly into Medit's scanning workflow.

The integration means dental professionals will get real-time risk analysis and treatment recommendations while they're scanning patients—not after, not in a separate system, but right there at the chair.

For OraQ, it's another major distribution win. Medit has offices across the Americas, Europe, and Asia, plus distributors in over a hundred countries. The deal comes a few months after OraQ partnered with Patterson Dental's Canadian division, which put them in front of roughly 10,000 dental practices through 120 sales reps.

"Medit is redefining what a scan can do, and together we're turning every image into insight—so providers can plan the right care, at the right time, for the right reasons," said Dr. Amreesh Khanna, who founded OraQ. "We help every dentist see what matters most for their patient—clearly and confidently."

What's actually changing

Right now, when dentists take 3D scans of your mouth, those images mostly sit as records. They're detailed, yes, but they're static. OraQ's software changes that by analyzing the scans alongside a patient's medical history and existing dental issues to spot risks and suggest next steps.

"At Medit, we believe scanning should go beyond capturing data—it should create understanding," said Han Ryu, Medit's CEO. "By integrating OraQ's intelligence into our platform, we are empowering clinicians with instant insight that elevates care and connects dentistry to a broader picture of health."

Unlike imaging software that just looks at the visuals, OraQ pulls in medical data too, connecting oral health to overall health conditions. The company says its platform uses up to 80% more data than traditional solutions, and dentists using it find about 2.5 times more revenue opportunities in their practices.

Building momentum

OraQ raised $2.7 million in a seed round this year, led by Alberta-based Angel MD GP. Add that to their $1.3 million pre-seed round in 2021 (led by Greyhill), and they've raised $4 million in equity. They've also pulled in another $1.3 million in non-dilutive funding from Alberta Innovates, IRAP, and Mitacs: $5.2 million total since launching in 2023.

The company was founded by Dr. Amreesh Khanna, Dr. Mike Parchewsky, and Wayne Madhlangobe. Earlier this year, they won Best in Class in the Dental/Oral Health category at the 2025 Digital Health Awards. They're also working with the University of the Pacific's dental school in San Francisco on research and innovation.
