Robotic homebuilding comes to Calgary
Robots could be building your next home.
Promise Robotics, an AI company turning off-the-shelf industrial robots into autonomous systems for home construction, announced its plans to expand production to a 60,000-square-foot warehouse located in Calgary. The facility is set to be in operation this summer, and will be able to produce up to one million square feet of housing annually.
Looking at a shortage of housing in Canada and the U.S., the company sees its "homebuilding Factory-as-a-Service" platform as a way to boost production capacity and deliver dwellings faster using fewer resources.
"This new factory marks a major technological and business milestone, strengthening our ability to support our expanding network of homebuilding partners across Canada and the U.S.," said Ramtin Attar, CEO and co-founder of Promise Robotics. "The high cost and complexity of automation have long kept homebuilders from investing in factories, but Promise Robotics changes that. Our solution removes capital and expertise barriers, enabling builders to adopt automation and scale production confidently."
Promise Robotics says that its proprietary solution can be rapidly deployed and easily re-deployed at existing warehouses (like the one in Calgary) or in temporary locations. That flexibility can support accelerated home production and fluctuating regional demand.
