Secret’s out: Alberta healthtech startup launches public beta
After quietly completing nearly 100,000 biomarker tests across Canada, Canadian healthtech startup NiaHealth has launched its public beta, bringing its data-driven platform out of stealth mode. Backed by $2.5 million in pre-seed funding, the company says it projects tenfold growth by year’s end.
Nia’s platform allows users to access in-clinic or at-home testing for over 50 biomarkers. The system integrates data-powered risk detection and trend tracking across multiple health domains, including cardiovascular, metabolic, hormonal, liver, kidney, and immune health. Users receive clinician-reviewed digital reports and one-on-one support via secure messaging.
"We’ve been building something powerful: a proactive care model that doesn’t just drop lab results in your inbox. NiaHealth blends leading health tech with clinician-led consults to help Canadians understand how their biomarkers connect and take action with confidence. It’s time to rethink the idea that aging means decline," said Sameer Dhar, CEO and founder of NiaHealth.
The platform also offers more advanced diagnostics such as VO₂ Max testing, DEXA and SECA scans for body composition and bone density, and a microbiome analysis that evaluates over 300 microbial species.
NiaHealth is currently available in Ontario, Alberta, British Columbia, and Manitoba, with plans to expand across Canada and beyond.
