On Sunday, we asked if you were concerned about the impact of a changing U.S. government on the Albertan economy. Over half of you said yes.
Here are some readers’ comments:
Yes, I’m concerned, and with good reason: “The U.S. government increasing tariffs on Canada’s exports hurts Canadian businesses and will only help fill government coffers. The extra duties and related fees will only hurt U.S. importers. These extra charges will be passed through ultimately to the consumer. Alberta and other provinces and territories will see economic decline.”
Yes, I’m concerned, and with good reason: “My general feedback is that as I have followed the news so far, I have found Alberta’s premier, Ms. Smith, has got an optimistic and realistic view on this change. If her views are based on strong evidence that she’s got from her meeting with new U.S. administration, then I am quite sure Alberta’s economy will be changing for good. I am trusting her as an honest politician. It is just my intuition. ”
I don’t think we have reason to worry: “The new U.S. government will be very good for Alberta. And the world. ”
